Flutterby Mountain Soul: Public Art by Artist Tina Medina In 2023, Colorado artist Tina Medina, Genízaro descendant, mother, and advocate, created Flutterby Mountain Soul, a public art installation that became the centerpiece of the annual SpeakUp ReachOut Memorial Ceremony in Eagle County. This sacred event is held each September during Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, bringing together survivors of suicide loss to honor their loved ones. Attendees wrote the names of their beloved family and friends on paper butterflies, which were then placed on the wooden butterfly artwork designed by Tina Medina. Over the course of the day, Flutterby Mountain Soul transformed into a collective memorial filled with love, remembrance, and resilience.
