🎨 A Work in Progress | by Artist Tina Medina

I’ve always believed that art is more than the final piece, it’s about the journey of creating. Every painting begins as an empty space, full of possibility. With each brushstroke, with each layer of color, something new begins to take form. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how much this mirrors life itself. We are all works in progress. We make mistakes, we try again, we add texture, we shift direction. Just like a painting, the beauty often comes from the layers we didn’t plan. When I stand in front of my canvas, surrounded by brushes and paints, I feel a sense of freedom. It’s a space where I can release, explore, and let my hands move without needing all the answers first. Sometimes the paint flows easily, other times it resists, but both are part of the process. To me, that is what makes art so alive: it teaches patience, trust, and surrender. A work in progress isn’t unfinished, it’s becoming. Thank you for walking with me as I continue to grow,...

Tina Medina: Art, Crystals, and the Power of Healing

I am Tina Marie Medina, a Colorado artist, mother, and proud Genízaro woman. My journey has always been about weaving together the things I love—art, heritage, and healing—into creations that speak to the soul. From public installations like Flutterby Mountain Soul, to the malas and crystal-infused pieces I design through Magical Mala, every work I create is more than art. It is intention. It is energy. It is truth. ✨ Crystals as Carriers of Energy I believe that crystals hold memory and vibration. When combined with my artistic process, they become vessels of both beauty and healing. Whether placed in a public artwork or threaded into a mala, each crystal is carefully chosen to honor resilience, protection, and light. 🎨 Art as Sacred Space My art is not only visual, it is ceremonial. In 2023, when I created Flutterby Mountain Soul for the SpeakUp ReachOut Memorial Ceremony, I witnessed firsthand how art can transform grief into remembrance. Familie...

Flutterby Mountain Soul: Public Art by Artist Tina Medina

Flutterby Mountain Soul: Public Art by Artist Tina Medina In 2023, Colorado artist Tina Medina, Genízaro descendant, mother, and advocate, created Flutterby Mountain Soul, a public art installation that became the centerpiece of the annual SpeakUp ReachOut Memorial Ceremony in Eagle County. This sacred event is held each September during Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month, bringing together survivors of suicide loss to honor their loved ones. Attendees wrote the names of their beloved family and friends on paper butterflies, which were then placed on the wooden butterfly artwork designed by Tina Medina. Over the course of the day, Flutterby Mountain Soul transformed into a collective memorial filled with love, remembrance, and resilience. For Tina Medina, the creation of Flutterby Mountain Soul was both artistic and deeply personal. As a mother, artist, and advocate for healing, she believes in the power of art to create sacred spaces where grief...

Tina Medina of Gypsum, Colorado | Art, Nature & Stillness

Welcome. I’m Tina Medina , an artist, mother, and nature-lover rooted in the wild beauty of Gypsum, Colorado. This blog is a reflection of the creative, quiet side of life I’ve cultivated among the mountains, forests, and wildlife that surround me. As someone who finds deep meaning in simplicity, stillness, and sacred landscapes , I created this space to share what moves me, and to connect with others who feel the same pull toward nature and creativity. Living in Gypsum, I’m constantly inspired by the rhythms of the land: elk grazing at dusk , rivers winding through tall grass , morning fog lifting off the peaks . These moments aren’t just beautiful — they’re healing. They remind me to slow down, breathe deeper, and honor the cycles of life. As a Colorado artist, I work with paint, photography, and mindful practice to turn these inspirations into art. I believe creativity is a way to come home to yourself, and that sharing beauty can be a form of restoration, both personal and collec...
